Erica Wan is a rising senior at PVPHS. During this global pandemic, she has started tutoring many kids on different subjects through Zoom and has gained experience with tutoring throughout the time. She maintains a 4.8 weighted GPA, scored a perfect score on my Chinese SAT Subject Test. Erica has earned AP Scholar wish Honors recently and became the VP for CSF and Secretary for Science NHS. She is also a competitive runner on our varsity cross country team, a part of the TSA team for two years, and has played the piano since I was 4. She has just finished her college essays and has experience with brainstorming ideas and Erica believes that she can help those who are stuck during the essay writing process. Lastly, Erica has great experience with kids from taking care of her baby cousins and she can always make it a fun time when hanging out with kids.
Yaseen will be attending USC in the fall. Throughout high school he has played trumpet in both the jazz band and orchestra since his freshman year. He also played trumpet outside of his school for a professional youth orchestra. He has experience teaching kids in music from volunteering in the summer to teach kids how to play the trumpet. In his free time Yaseen likes to go fishing, running, or spend time with his friends
Megan Hwang is a senior at Peninsula High this year serving as the ASB Vice President and is involved in other organizations on campus such as being a member of NHS Board, Social Science NHS, Math NHS, Teen Court, and Yearbook editor. She frequently volunteers with children with disabilities through organizations such as Ready, Willing, and Able and Camp Escapades. Megan has experience with kids of all ages since she’s been a camp counselor at Country Day Camp for the past 3 years. She also enjoys playing piano and recently completed level 10 advanced of Piano Certificate of Merit. Another one of her passions is dancing as she was on both Peninsula High’s Varsity Dance Team and Choreo Company where she both choreographed and competed. She would love to babysit, tutor, teach piano, or teach dance and she is CPR certified.
Maya is a rising senior at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. She has been playing the violin since the age of 3 and is planning to continue studying music as a music major in college. She has won numerous competitions such as VOCE, ASTA, SYMF and more. She recently became the concert master of Palos Verdes Regional Symphonic Orchestra and has been part of the orchestra for 5 years. She also has lots of experience coaching kids in violin through being a Young Violinists teacher and tutoring over the summer with the Peninsula music booster program. Outside of music, Maya loves to dance and spend time with kids.
Tess is a rising Senior at Marymount High School Los Angeles. She began to play the ukulele 6 years ago, and now also plays the guitar and composes original music. She has been taking voice lessons for 9 years, and has performed at Palos Verdes High School‘s Project Runway, Freedom4U, and other local events. She recently studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she received the Dean’s Award for her vocal program. She volunteers with the children’s ministry at her church and through Ek Kardia. In the summer, she works as a camp counselor and is certified in CPR and first aid.
Renee has been a violinist for over thirteen years and a music teacher for over five years. She has been classically trained by Professor Aimee Kreston through the Colburn School of Music. She has been to multiple music camps such as Aspen Music Festival and Interlochen. Last year, she applied for Music Performance and was accepted into multiple universities such as the Peabody Institution, UCLA, University of Michigan, etc. and understands the college application process for Music Performance. Renee is a sophomore at the University of Southern California studying Music Business.
Kylie Young is a junior at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. She does various extracurricular activities at school and outside of school. She enjoys playing her instruments and singing. She has been singing all her life and has been playing guitar for eight years, and been playing ukulele for three years, she can also play the piano. She is in drama at school and also takes part in other drama related activities outside of school She is in many of the musicals and plays at Pen and also is in choir.
Ian Miller is an incoming senior at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, where he is a member of National Honor Society, Link Crew, the school track team, and is on the Math Team board. He can tutor math (up to precalculus honors), chemistry, and Spanish (up to 4AP). He has received a 800 on his math subject test and a 1510 on the SAT. In addition to academics, Ian also offers private music tutoring for trombone, flute, and piano.
Jacob Pascover currently attends Peninsula High School in Palos Verdes and is going into his Junior Year. He loves to help kids with any sort of Math and Science. He just recently passed his AP Chemistry exam and moved on from Precalculus as a Sophomore! He also plays the guitar and would love to do guitar lessons! He can’t wait to work with you guys!
Sanjay Kumar is a senior at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. He is a member of Peninsula High School’s Symphonic Orchestra and Tri-M National Music Honors Society. He has played piano for the past thirteen years and began playing violin eight years ago. He has a great deal of experience teaching piano and violin to students. In his free time, Sanjay loves hanging out with his friends and playing basketball.
